About Martin

Products are systems.
People are part of them.

My background is in firmware and software engineering. I approach products as systems: the technical architecture, the workflow, and the people using it need to work together.

An engineering foundation.

Firmware and software are the foundation of my work. My focus is the wider system: what needs to happen, where the boundaries belong, and how to know whether it behaves correctly.

AI as leverage.
Judgment stays human.

I use AI to support architecture, implementation, and iteration. That does not remove the need to understand the problem, inspect the output, or validate the result.

For this portfolio, the product and design specifications come first. Changes are reviewed against those constraints, and unverified checks stay visible rather than being treated as passes.

How I make decisions.

  1. Understand the problem before choosing the implementation.
  2. Use automation to buy back thinking time.
  3. Treat UX as system behavior, not decoration.
  4. Test uncertain assumptions cheaply.
  5. Make tradeoffs explicit.

The useful question.

Not just “does it run?” but “does the whole system help someone do what they need to do?” Architecture and the experience of using a product need to answer that question together.
